Chiropractic Treatment

At Campsie Physiotherapy, we offer chiropractic services that can treat joint problems and muscle strain. Two chiropractors, Tom Xin and Sammi Du, will provide massage therapy which manipulates stiff joints and corrects poor posture. This helps patients to start performing muscle strengthing exercises and, as a result, adjust the strength the spine.

The most common treatment technique used by chiropractors is spinal manipulation. This method applies passive forces of flexion, extension and rotation of specific vertebral segments in the spine. It is used effectively for the treatment of sacroiliac and vertebral discolations, sprains and adhesions. Some examples of spinal manipulation include toggle drop, lumbar roll, release work and table and instrument adjustments.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy basically requires a range of methods and techniques. The benefits of hydrotherapy exercise in a pool and the use of Pilates equipment while exercising include:

  • Development of core muscle strengthening
  • Develops better posture
  • Improves abdominal wall strength to control that ‘tummy bulge’
  • Improves upper and lower limb strength and control
  • Excellent exercise for all age groups
  • Exercises are tailored to the individuals capabilities
  • Non weight bearing exercises help those with arthritic pain when weight bearing
  • Improves your balance

Acupuncture

Dry needling uses acupuncture needles to deactivate nerve and muscular activity in trigger points, found in the muscle belly. It also shuts off the nociception or pain receptors in the muscle and ligaments.

Muscles relax and joint pain eases, facilitating normal joint movement. Blood flow returns to the muscles and joints, it flushes away the hormones and chemicals that cause some of the pain.

Dry needling acupuncture is used for the treatment of:
  • Neck pain & back pain
  • Tension pain
  • migraines & headaches
  • Tight muscular areas
  • Strain
  • Unceasing pain syndromes
  • Sports injuries
  • Shin splints & tightness
  • Lower back problems
  • Hamstring
  • Nerve pain
Treatment involves the insertion of solid dry acupuncture needles usually in or around muscle trigger points. Trigger points are areas in muscles that are painful when moved or pushed. These muscle areas can submit pain and create discomfort elsewhere in the body.
